Make Perfect C environment on Windows

Ubuntu got a perfect C environment but very bad entertainment and its really irritating to keep switching from ubuntu to Windows again and again for beginners its better to stay at Windows with a good programming environment. I referred to many sites but was unable to setup, worse codeblock was failing again and again due to some reason and most importantly its really a bad to compile on codeblock it dosent give actual feel, experience of programming and at last first time in history an Indian government site published perfect way to setup.

Organisation is known as NPTEL by IIT's to provide quality education and is really a very good option to study.

Go to the MinGW download site

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/files/

Go into the Installer folder and download the file mingw-get-setup.exe.

Run the downloaded file on your computer, accept all the default settings and continue. You should get the following screen:

Click on “Continue” and the MinGW Installation Manager will open and look like this:

Mark the following packages for installation

mingw-base

mingw-gcc-g++

Click on Installation->Apply Changes.

The installer will then download the needed packages. Your screen will look like this:

Once the installation is complete, the following confirmation screen will show:

Click on “Close” and exit the MinGW Installation Manager.

Download and Install Notepad++

Go to the Notepad++ download page:

http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.6.8.html

Download Notepad++ Installer.

Run the Installer and accept all the default options to install Notepad++.

You should now be able to run Notepad++ from the Start menu.

Setting up the system for programming

First of all create new folder on your disk to keep all the programs separately. Lets say you create it in your C drive can call it “code”.

Since MinGW was installed using default options, it should be in the C:\MinGW folder.

We will now create a short batch file to setup the command prompt to work with MinGW.  

Open Notepad++, create a new file with just the following command:

PATH=C:\MinGW\bin;%PATH%

Save the file as “setup.bat” in the folder c:\code.

Now you are ready to edit and compile programs.

How to edit and compile programs

Open Notepad++, write your program there and save it in the C:\code folder. Lets say the program is called “sample.c”.

Open the Windows Command Prompt. Change to the code folder by typing:

cd c:\code

Setup the command prompt using our batch file like this

C:\code>setup.bat

You can now compile your program like this:

C:\code>gcc sample.c

If there are errors, you will have to go back to Notepad++ to change the code.

If compilation succeeds, you will see the file a.exe created in the same folder.

Run the program like this:

C:\code>a.exe

By default every successful compilation will result in a.exe getting created and overwritten for every subsequent compile. If you want a different name for your compiled program, you should add the output file name to the gcc command like this:

C:\code>gcc -o sample.exe sample.c

And then run the program like this:

C:\code>sample.exe

That’s it !! You are ready to code.

Tips

You only need to run the setup.bat file once when you open the command prompt. After that the settings will stay until you close that command prompt.

For fast switching between editing the code in Notepad++ and compiling on the command prompt, keep both open and keep switching using Alt+Tab. Like this screen:

Why one should not use VLC player

Recently many manufactures warned there customer not to use VLC media player, not informed yet, may be you are not even i was not until I called HP Customer care and asked what does "limited parts and labor warranty" means? they told that it means that if any software like "VLC" will damage your speaker, we are not going to fix it under warranty, wow, what, why not?! I didnt asked, why because once my friend told me that, boosting volume for large time CAN damage speakers.

Even when i was buying the laptop, the retailer was installing some softwares, but he didnt installed "VLC media player" I asked him to install, he said it will give error with HP.

Okay, its not only HP, if i will install Windows 7, linux or windows 8 pro, it will not give any error with VLC media player, because now its only a simple OS not provided by any manufacture so there will be no extra restriction or extra FEATURE provided initially, unless you find and install them again, yes you can.

Including HP, Dell also not fix speaker under warranty if you used vlc media player.

What Really Happens?

This what i asked to PC retailer and expert, he told me that there is a layer around speaker, which bursts out as soon as you boosts the volume, even a second is enough.

Okay, but Proof!

Now you must be thinking. what prove they got, good question. All the activities you are doing, not any personal data is being written somewhere and Authorized service man can easily access that, umm woman too!

Now what, thinking about to Install the whole OS again or restoring your PC to a previous date, No it will also not work, that data can not be erased like this.

Will not boost volume, promise!

Love VLC, actually me too, but i will suggest you to stay away from it, as if you will not boost the volume nothing bad will happen, but if why mistake it got then?

Why products are cheap on online store

Online shopping is increasing rapidly whether its India or somewhere else, its everywhere because its easy to find our favorite product and compare with others, but question arise why the hell prices are low as compared to market(not showroom), okay its true that they save their cost which they have to pay if they will open shop on street but still you should not be very surprised to get to know that on flipkart or snapdeal most of the products are from "retailers" not from their warehouse, yes this is opposite to what most of us think.


2 Secondly the retailers obviously has to pay some percent of their profit to these online shopping center for getting their product sold, still the price is less from local market?

The Reason

The Only reason i can think of and its right though is, they import those product from countries where they are cheap. 

From where i got this !dea, firstly if you will give a close look at description of product, there is some variation(particularly laptops) in details and no where it is "written #year Indian warranty"

The Problem

Now, what is loss if i will buy from them, Nothing the product is genuine and you got a bill to claim warranty BUT you cannot claim warranty in India, yes your bill is useless here, you will need to send your product to that particular country on your expensive or maybe flipkart etc may help you for this and send product on behalf of you.

After Repairing company will send the product back to you at free of cost.

Final

Not all products are imported from other countries and for import companies like Flipkart are not responsible nor they are involved(until there is retailer) but they surely know about this. In my Opinion one should contact these companies before buying imported Electrical Products to ensure, if they will send product or you have to and upto how many years.

HP Pavilion is a great looking laptop as i said before but its time to show ;). It don't have plastic body like other laptops in this range but it got alloy body which available only in one pattern "Natural silver with line"(upper part) and fully black with lines,wood finish!?, from inside, cool na!

On left side we have 2 USB 3.0, HDMI, Ethernet, Charging Point

 On Right side we have 1 USB 2.0, combined mic/audio, Optical Drive

Start button got a light which works like CPU led light which turn off only when CPU is fully stop working.

keyboard and Touchpad

Keyboard also got numeric Keypad, what i dis-like about is touchpad is not symmetrically to full keyboard it is only but standard keyboard.

keyboard is similar, preciously carbon copy Envy series a premium Keyboard, which easy to type all key size are perfect and type slowly or in rush you may misspell, key are in proper shape with perfect spacing between them.

Touchpad have some special feature optimized for Windows 8

• You can use slidebar by sliding your both finger together 
• Sliding from right most open charms
• Sliding for topmost will give app options
• Pinching in and out for zooming

But sadly it got  no slidebar like standard touchpads and and it dont have visible buttons(it have buttons but they are not visible) which improves look but may be burden for few.

HP Pavilion 15-p001tx is great laptop considering it's price even it is PERFECT for a student, it got everything beats audio for music to GeForce 830M 2GB for gaming, a 15.6 inch Bright view display, numeric keyboard, Exclusive Touchpad features, and if you will but this laptop before 21 August then it's a great deal you will get a "1 year Mcfee Anti-virus","3 year Extended warranty", "90 days Educational Service", it may priced low as Rs. 47,500(HP World) but its a premium series Laptop. I have this and love it.
